Global Investment Firms Verifies The Expansion Of Abu Dhabi’s Real Estate Sector.

23/09/2026

Adding its latest layer to the growing financial ecosystem, Abu Dhabi is welcoming global investment firms.

According to the recent article on The National news, EQT, a major European private-markets investment firm, has opened their first Middle Eastern office at Abu Dhabi Global Markets. EQT is reportedly handling $389 billion in assets and Abu Dhabi will be the central platform in dealing with GCC investments. This follows the set up of the $315 billion private credit provider Blue Owl earlier this year.

This is not only a mere investment firm setting up, this is a signal that an increasing number of high-net-worth individuals have their interest focused on the GCC.

More capital, more investors

ADGM has already changed the financial landscape. Its workforce reached 49,027 in H1 2026, while assets under management increased 54% YOY. The number of fund and asset managers also rose to 190.

As more global investment firms, family offices and institutional investors establish a presence for Abu Dhabi while expanding the potential buyer pool for it.

This news could be particularly relevant to high-end property owners, senior investors and wealth managers. High-end properties in well connected locations and brand new projects will most likely attract a lot of interest.

What does this mean for property owners?

For current owners, a growing pool of investors could expand the pool of potential buyers when it comes to residential property. But wealth that is managed by firms such as EQT focus beyond the residential sector, its stated areas of interest include:

  • Infrastructure

  • Education

  • Digital technology

  • Business services

  • Energy transition

  • Healthcare and life sciences

With the current market showing strong activity, ADREC recorded 117 billion Dirhams in total real estate transactions in H1 of 2026, while foreign direct investment reached 13.8 billion Dirhams, up 309% YOY.
